HA Bond Gun: Precise Coating for Thin Layers and Hard-to-Reach Areas

A dependable torch system for metallic coatings, edge work, and cylindrical surfaces.

HA Bond Gun

The HA Bond Gun, developed from the MAXI-JET design, is engineered for applying thin, uniform layers, especially in challenging positions. We sell complete torch systems and perform on-site repairs at our facility.

Note: Flashback safeguards are highly recommended for this torch system.

Components Available

  • Handle (No. 202)
  • Powder Mixer (No. 237)
  • Welding/Spray Inserts (Sizes 1–5 | Nos. 241–245)
  • Preheating and Spray Fusing Inserts (Nos. 252–253)

Process Overview

The HA Bond process uses oxy-acetylene to mix and propel metallic powders onto the surface. It is ideal for edges, cylindrical parts, and thin-layer applications requiring abrasion, corrosion, and heat resistance.

Capabilities include:

  • Metallic buildups with hardness from 15 to 65 RC
  • Minimal part distortion
  • Smooth alloy flow for reduced machining

Compatible Materials

  • Carbon steels
  • Stainless steels
  • Gray and malleable cast iron
  • Various non-ferrous metals

Workpiece Preparation

  1. Grind, file, or sandblast to clean metal
  2. Degrease completely
  3. Preheat to approximately 550°F (300°C) before deposition
  4. Build up layers at 1100–1300°F (600–700°C)
  5. Allow slow air cooling
